The Caldwell Night Rodeo has been a mainstay of entertainment in the Treasure Valley since 1935! The arena off of Blaine Street in Caldwell is the place where “The Cowboys are the Stars”. For a week in the last half of August, spectators pack the stands to experience all of the rodeo action. From the announcers to the rodeo clowns, the Jr. Rodeo to the rodeo queens, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
As I grew up in Idaho, I never was into the rodeo. But after I grew up and started dating a man who probably should have been a cowboy, we found ourselves side by side in the stands of the Caldwell Night Rodeo.
It was my first one and I was hooked. I loved the music, the athletes, the kids, the animals–all of it!
After we had kids of our own, we knew that they would grow up knowing the excitement of rodeo and we have gone to rodeos all over the state.
There’s something special about the Caldwell Night Rodeo, though.
Whether you are a ”rowdy” (sitting on the sunny side), or a “civi” (finding shade ASAP), there’s nothing like the heat of an Idaho evening mixed with the smell of concessions and dirt to make you grateful to live in one of the best places on earth.
