With all the attention on the menu and the guests for the upcoming Thanksgiving feast, you would think that folks aren’t really thinking much beyond watching the parade and some football, but there is a whole community of people who take the day off as an excuse to get a run in!
The Turkey Day 5K is back again this year and it’s a really cool way to get out and be a part of community doing something that is good for you!
This year, there will be races in Boise and in Caldwell. Downtown Boise at Capitol and Idaho is where Ada County runners will be and the 2C runners will gather at the Indian Creek Plaza in Caldwell.
These races are a fun way to get the whole family involved because they aren’t that far! Even if you walk the whole thing pushing a stroller, you will receive all the benefits of being outside, spending time with the family, and getting a little exercise. For over a decade, this event has kicked off Thanksgiving for lots of families while raising funds for local charities!
There’s always something fun to see as people dress up as turkeys, wear costumes, and turkey tutus are just as normal as exercise wear! There is so much to see and lots of excitement in the air- you hardly notice that you’re exercising!
