I grew up in Boise. Born and Raised. OG. Back in those days there was a lot less to do, but the things we did were good, wholesome, simple pleasures that still exist today if we can get our kids off their devices and out to enjoy what we can so easily take for granted.
I used to think that fishing in a stocked pond was cheating somehow, but that’s just not true. Fishing is one of those simple pleasures that anyone of any age can enjoy. It is taking time away from all the regular stuff, breathing in some fresh air, and being forced to be patient for the bite you know is coming.
There is good news across Southwest Idaho in the month of March because Idaho Fish and Game is restocking rainbow trout in ponds and reservoirs. And they aren’t little, tiny fish either, they are between 10-12 inches. A prize for anyone who would catch one of the 28,000 that are being released.
If you are one who geeks out over the details, follow this link and make some plans to go fishing this spring. https://idfg.idaho.gov/ifwis/fishingPlanner/?_ga=2.13679415.1239784473.1617057466-1170167654.1611267347
Pretty much everywhere you fish, you’re gonna need a few basics, including a fishing license. To find out about that, visit https://idfg.idaho.gov/
So, whether you are new around here, or grew up OG Boise like me, taking time to slow down, enjoy the simple pleasures, and breathe deep will benefit us all. Like my uncle says, a bad day fishing is better than a good day just about anywhere else!
