Every single opportunity you seize,
To give the people you love a squeeze,
You hug hello, you hug goodbye,
And it’s always the answer after a good cry.
But here you are in quarantine,
And for how long remains to be seen.
It’s hard to remember, it’s hard to refrain,
But here is a thought for your heart and your brain:
A big, warm hug with no place to go,
Can turn into a nice card for someone you know.
I know you miss hugging and you’re slightly vexed,
But your hug can become a checking-on-you text!
Here’s a trick that works for coworkers and family, all types:
You can hug them by cleaning everything with Lysol wipes.
If only we could send a hug via drone!
But you can call someone you love on your phone.
So stay safe in your home, healthy and snug,
And remember there’s more than one way to give a hug!
