The Dallas Cowboys football team has fired Boise State University legend Kellen Moore. If you’re new to Southern Idaho, Kellen Moore is the winningest quarterback in Boise State history. He’s done a terrific job directing the Cowboys offense. While his firing was a complete shock to his fans, it may not have been a complete surprise to him. Either way, it has to be tough to do such a good job and be rejected.
Despite the rejection, Kellen’s disappointment didn’t last long as the Los Angeles Chargers hired him to coordinate their offense. This is a big upgrade both in personnel and ownership with whom he’ll work. And, he gets to move from the hellacious humidity of Dallas to the more temperate climate of Los Angeles. The beach is close, too.
For Kellen, a lousy situation transformed into a new, and better, opportunity where he’ll deploy his genius to great success.
Sometimes, it’s hard to see how your raw deal can lead to something good. Yet the principle that something bad will lead to something better is still true (Romans 8:38). The challenge is to live with hope no matter how things look or feel.
Fortunately, we have Jesus’ promise to be with us always. When we take time to reflect on how he’s cared for us in the past, we have every reason to be optimistic.
