Hard to believe the holidays are here!! I hope you and your family are doing all of the Christmasy things: shopping, decorating, baking. If baking is still on your to-do list for this season, I found a recipe that you and the kids might want to try. I found it on NorthPoleTimes.com and I have it from a reliable source (Mrs. Claus) that these are Rudolph’s favorite cookies!! Enjoy!
CHOCOLATE KISS CHERRY COOKIES
Ingredients
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup butter, softened
2 teaspoons maraschino cherries
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
4 drops red food coloring
2 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup maraschino, cherries, drained, and chopped
48 milk chocolate candy kisses
Procedure
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
Combine powdered sugar, butter, cherry liquid, extract, and food coloring in a bowl. Mix well.
Add flour and salt. Mix well.
Stir in cherries.
Shaped dough into 1 inch balls.
Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until you can see the lower edge is a light golden brown.
Remove from the oven and immediately press a candy kiss into the top of each cookie.
