This is a song about following God even when doing so leads us to a path where we feel lost and alone. The song gives an example of how we begin to question God and what He is doing in our lives. We will sometimes ask God the question, “Are you sure this is the plan that you have for me?” We have moments when we question God. We question if He is right, if taking the step in faith we feel called to take is correct. We simply worry. Yet the biggest thing is to believe that God has our hand and is leading us through the trials that life brings us through.
“I don’t know where this is going
But I know who holds my hand
It’s not the path I would’ve chosen
But I’ll follow You to the end”
Proverbs 3:4-6 talks about trusting in the Lord with all of our hearts, and not allowing ourselves to lean on our own understanding.
There are so many things in my future that I cannot see. Giving God my trust and worries is how I can start the journey of following Him and allowing Him to lead me. Sometimes where I am led is not where I would think I would be. I enter my desert road. God is my oasis in the desert where there seems to be nothing but dust and dryness. A sense of open, never-ending land.
God is the water which we can thrive from.
We become shaken by the things we are called to and there can be fear when moving towards those dreams. Will they lead us astray? Are they what God wants? Romans 8:39 talks about how neither height nor depth can separate us from the love of God. I read that and find peace that no matter where I am on this journey with Him, He will meet me in my need and wants to be with me. He wants the same for you.
The Lord is on our side.
