What’s in your “bag”?
Recently I was watching a news program and the hosts were having a little fun with the topic of “what would you put in your ‘DOOMSDAY’ bag?” Responses were everything from snacks to shampoo, flashlights, and even things to keep the fur babies comfortable during the apocalypse.
It got me to thinking of the opposite. Not so much “doomsday” but everyday. What do we keep in our “bag” to get us through the regular things we face in life; the toddler meltdowns, pressure at work, the loss of a loved one, a bout of anxiety or depression.
God in HIS love and mercy filled a bag, or in this case a book, with the hope and encouragement we would need to navigate every day of our lives no matter what it may bring. It’s called the Bible. I’ll admit, I don’t reach into the “bag” as often as I should. Those powerful verses and teachings remind us if we have faith the size of a mustard seed we can move mountains out of our way (Matthew 17:20)
That in the day of trouble we can call upon the Lord and HE will rescue us (Psalm 50:15) That in times when we are weak we can lean on God’s strength (Psalm 46:1).
I’m so thankful that God left us the ultimate survival kit. Now all we have to do, is remember to use it.
