“I’m fighting a battle You’ve already won.” Is that your first thought when you’re going through a trial? If I’m honest, it’s not usually mine. Nonetheless, it’s the truth. As this song reminds us, no matter what comes our way, we can overcome through Jesus.
In John 16:33 NLT: Jesus said: I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
We can overcome, not because of our own strength, but because we belong to the One who has overcome. According to the Bible, one day, when Jesus comes back to this earth, He will wipe every tear from our eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All of those things will be gone forever (Revelation 21:4 NLT). But in the meantime, when we face trials and sorrows in this life, Jesus brings purpose from them. He gives us strength to endure, comforts us, uses the challenges we face to refine and mature our faith, and uses our testimonies to encourage others who are facing similar trials to the ones we have faced.
