Starting Year #8.
It seems unbelievable to realize that I’ve stuck with something that long. And something that seemed so daunting to me before I started doing it.
I was one of those people who had never been able to read the Bible all the way through, ever, let alone do it in a year. A friend of mine told me about an app I could download to click and listen to someone read me the Bible each day, and at the end of the year, I would have “read” the whole thing! I got in the habit of listening to the Bible while I get ready (early) in the morning. By the time I leave the house, I’ve “read” a portion of the Bible! What a great start to the day.
Theodore Roosevelt once said: “A thorough knowledge of the Bible is worth more than a collage education.”
The thing is, being in the Word of God daily quickly became something that I really needed, not just wanted to do. When you pour yourself out for all that God has put in front of you each day, you really need Him to be able to do that well. It is where my strength and wisdom come from. He is the one who has blessed me with a family and all the responsibility that requires. He is the one who has called me to the work of sharing life on the radio each morning. The ups and downs and wisdom required to meet people where they are and point them to hope. He is the one who helps me navigate things I didn’t see coming.
I am grateful for my calling and even more grateful that He has provided me a way to stay connected to the unending source of HOPE. The Bible is truly the living Word of God that has something to encourage and challenge me every single day!
“The Bible is God’s book of promises, and unlike the books of men, it does not change or get out of date. -Billy Graham
