I hope you have someone in your life that inspires you and puts magic into the simplest of days. For me, it’s my kids. For twin sisters Christa and Chanda, it was their mom. She really shined at Christmas, taking extra effort to make it as magical as she could. She had a vivid imagination and made up a fabulous story about a little elf named Quizby, who would fly to the North Pole each night and report the goings-on to Santa. When he returned to their house each morning, he’d end up in a different place, delighting the girls to no end with his antics.
When the girls grew up, they carried on the tradition in their own families and were encouraged to write the story of the Elf on the Shelf. They tried many ways to get it published, but nobody would pick it up. In 2005, they decided to start their own company, published it themselves, and today more than 28 million elves have spread the joy and magic off Christmas that their mom shared with them all those years ago.
It’s a reminder that even the simplest traditions can create lifelong memories. So today, take a moment to share a little magic with someone—you never know where it might lead.
