We have so many questions we want answered in life.
Who am I supposed to marry? What should I do for a career? Why is the sky blue? Why do I keep making the same mistake over and over? Why does it hurt so much? What car should I purchase? How much life insurance do I need? Where should I go on vacation?
Some questions have very simple and obvious answers but others take a lot more thinking, reflecting, and seeking advice. Those aren’t the questions I like to deal with. The easier the better I say. Have you ever considered this question:
Does anyone want to live a life that is long and prosperous?
I’m sure you have considered this question, or some form of it, at some point. The answer is obvious. YES! So the real question here is not whether I want this kind of life, it’s how to have it. Well you might be surprised that this question is actually in the Bible. It’s Psalm 34:12. But you might be even more surprised to know that the answer to the “how” of this question is in the next two verses.
Then keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies, turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it. Psalm 34:12-14 (NLT)
I think the answer is pretty clear.
