With Spring Break not too far away, you might want to start thinking about things you can do if you’re staying in town this year. Just off Warm Springs Boulevard in Boise is the old Idaho State Penitentiary. Built in 1870, it was in operation for 101 years housing the Idaho bad guys… and some bad girls!
There’s a lot to see and take in. The old state pen was running during the time when we were still considered the wild wild west until the early 1970’s. A lot of change and a lot of people came through those walls. There were escapes, fires, and more. So much has been preserved for you to see how the prisoners lived.
You can do a self guided tour or for just a few extra bucks have a guided tour. You can learn more or reserve a tour online. But if you go, just make sure you don’t accidentally leave someone behind!
